eBay is one of the world’s top destinations for buying and selling collectables. Basketball card sales grew more than 300% in 2020, and single Pokemon cards are going for hundreds of thousands of dollars, to name a few. It’s a completely new financial frontier, and eBay’s paving the way.
However, not everyone’s aware of this. Gen Z has a rather antiquated view of eBay, tending to view it more as a place for wacky one-off sales than a platform for buying or selling authentic items with long term value.
But more than any other generation, they’re the ones into unorthodox, more diverse forms of income. In fact, they’re the key ones behind the collectable craze, and NFT’s, too. They’re done with old school banking and want to diversify their financial portfolio. eBay’s the perfect platform for them; they just don’t know it. So, it’s time to flip their perspective.

It’s time to tell them to find their own wealth with eBay.
We’re creating ads that showcase how eBay is the place where they can find their own wealth, whether it’s by buying, selling, or a little bit of both. The copy hits close to home, referencing both the totally out of date financial terms of the past, and the collectables which our target knows all too well are only increasing in value. We’re putting them all over social media, along with OOH.
